                                    welsh national flying club

with the first event of the year rapidly approaching with maidstone on may 8th we would like to update you on whats been going on over the past weeks ,

first and formost is the introduction of the north wales marking station which is now up and running in the village hall in trefnant ,through out the winter contacts had been made to secure this for the benifit of everyone ,we therfore pass on our  praise and thanks  to those fanciers who have willingly given up their time to operate the station on behalf of both the national; and its membership its been a long time coming in respect of achieving a north walian marking station but this has proven a successful route and we now move forward even stronger for it

for interested members your first piont of contact is via brian jones on 01745 330754 following on from there all the information and application forms can be downloaded from our web site at www.welshnational.co.uk which is updatd regulary for your convienience this facility also gives you up to date race day information and provitional results at the earliest oppertunity plus other added benifits

moving on from their it was very dissapionting to lose one of our largest marking stations in the centre section namelly pontlainfraith at the end of 2010 , however in the past days this decition has done a u-turn and the membership have now retracted their resignation for a marking station for 2011 and will be fully operational ,this will be organised by jeff davies with the help of his club members its a pleasure to have you back with us lads

with the other marking stations operating as normal within newport pontypool and cardiff we will sadlly miss penywaun who have decided not to continue this year
so to operate at full strength we are currently looking for a club to opperate within the rhondda valley area  all applications will be considered if you so wish to come forward

moving on from there we go to sponsorship and its nice to see the europa one loft race on board for 2011 ,the team mark, russel and derek stepped in at the last minute to honour the sponsorship put up by richie elliott at the south west one loft race in plymouth who has decided not to operate in 2011

in light of this good will gesture we have also secured a continuous scheme for the said folkestone yb race by the europa one loft race cardiff so once again thank you for your committment to us ,the sponsored voucher will be in the form of a limit of five birds nominated pigeons per membership at a price of £1.00 per pigeon, and will also be flown for on the folkestone yb race

our remaining sponsored trophies are once again up for grabs these have been gifted from the following orgaisations and buisnesses such as the british homing world in welshpool , verselle laga ,proff sport holland ,west contry products gloucester , r g davies corn supplies, andy kidd gardening services,m gibbons and mr mrs tremeer , also remaing for another year is paget pets corn supplies of cardiff who have once again sponsored corn voucher for each section winner in the bonn race
of course not forgetting mr clive hughes our resident photographer for his donation of a photo of all our coming national winners ,it is however your responsabillity to get to get in touch with clive to arrange this ,prior to the presentation night which has been provitionally booked for sat 3rd dec at the ferns club newport

back now to the latest comittee meetings on this front its been very quiet as everything has fallen back into place from last season ,currently we are financialy secure leading into the coming season and can inform the membership that there are no price increases for the coming season, membership fees have remained the same as our first year of founding at £20.00 and the birdage remains at £1.20 inland and then increasing by fifity pence each week for e.g lilliers £2.00 brussels £2.50 and so on ,once again we are in a position to do this thanks to the support of our transporting organisation the welsh north road federation ,we can therfore offer back to our membership a high percentage  prizemonies in both the open and sections once again this year  the added attraction of weekend racing (saturdays)  will of course suit the working man and we believe the birdage will increase in line with this decition resulting in the prizemonies rising accordingly

,so thats it we can now openly annouce that the welsh national flying club are open to all areas of the pricipallity for the coming seasn and wish everyone a succesful year

                                    tom harris

the annual general meeting of the w..n.f.c. was held at 10am on sunday 30th jan at the seamans mission club newport ,
the proceedings got underway with mr t tremeer welcoming the congregation and thanked them for attending, this was Followed by a minutes silence to  remember members who have passed away in the past twelve months
                                    to start the meetings agenda
the final minutes of the current management committee were dually proposed and seconded as a true record which  finalised all buisness of the 2010 season
this was followed by the circulated minutes of the 2010  wnfc annual general meeting
which was held on sunday 31st jan 2010 these were proposed by mr m mayo sec by

the auditors report was up next mr m mayo and mr j humphries were in attendance to report on the financial situation of the wnfc and thanked the secretaries and treasuerer for the way on which the accounts had been managed and presented  for the audit, mr mayo then went on to explain that he and mr humphries had untaken the audit and were more than happy to present these figures to the membership for approval as a true record for 2010 ,
with no questions forthcoming the chairman asked for a proposal and seconder to accept the balance sheet proposed d flowers sec kidd & cooke

resignations were next on the agenda and as predicted the there was a considerable amount mostly from members who`s clubs had opted to fly an alternative route in 2011 these  were dually accepted with regret
one resignation that was accepted was from one of our founder committee members mr d davies of blackwood who has  finished with the sport it was recomended to  thank mr davies for his input over the past two years and for his contribution in getting this organisation up and running
moving on with proceedings the chairman then delclared all positions vacant for 2011
                                    these were voted as follows
secretaries mr mrs t harris pro mr m mayo  sec j lovell
chairman mr t tremeer pro j davies sec j morris
                                    v.chairman j davies pro m mayo sec j morris

it was then proposed that mr mike fishlock be given the chance if there was no further nominations to sit on the committee mike was currently in poland with his entrant into the pigeon olyimpiad

                                    auditors
proposed that the  current auditors  m mayo and j humphries be  re-election pro i davies sec j davies
race sheet auditor in the past two years mrs r humphries has honoured us in occupying this position in her absence john humphries was asked if rosemary was prepared to stand again  of which she is and under current union rules no one that isnt present cannot be voted into office so this position will be filled at the next management meeting

during the winter months we as an organisation have recieved a large amount of interest from north wales in regards to obtaining a marking station north of the current boundary of lat 52.20 , mr mrs t tremmer & dtr submittted a nom prior to the 2nd jan deadline to remove the boundary ,by ammending race rule 2.2 to remove such wording of the current rule which restricted marking/clock stations north of this piont ,the notice of motion was disscussed and proposed by mr mrs t tremeer and dtr and seconded by j morris it was then voted  in favour of the motion for 2011 ,we therefore welcome applications for marking stations for the forthcoming year

once again the members were thanked for their attendance and the meeting was brought to a close shortly before 11 am

a little bit of news one of our sponsors namlly the south west one loft race has closed its doors and will not be open  this season, however  russell and the europa one loft race team have  stepped up and informed me on a recent visit to the lofts that they will gladlly  honour the 2010 winners voucher for entry into the europa one loft competition for 2011, and  will also look into taking over a continued sponsorship ,  so fingers crossed we may have secured one of the highlly profiled one loft organisations in the country  for the wnfc membership in the near future
                                    finally
as most will now know in 2011 the wnfc in afilliation with the welsh north road federation are reverting back along the south east  route taking in overseas races such as lilliers brusels liege and bonn may we take this oppertunity to wish current and new members and our sponsors a productive and succesful  season

                                     tom harris

                                    latest news
with the 2010 season now over all that remains is to present the winners with their awards on sat 4th december at the ferns club in newport ,once again the welsh north road federation have accepted the invitation to jion us on the night and we are pleased to report that only eight  tickets remain unsold out of the 120 allocated for the evening which i gather may or may not go closer to the day ,so once again a good night is expected ,
our sponsor mr clive hughes (photograher) has  accepted our invite to attended and to capture the evening as it unfolds, along with yet another sponsor cambrian trophy supplies of newport who have come on board presenting a trophy  to the wnfc who have also been invited to attend
whilst updating you all on events that have happened since the close of racing the 2011 programme has now been agreed in line with the race programme set out by the welsh north road federation ,we will kick the season off from maidstone on sat 7th may followed by folkestone, lilliers brussels, liege, and finally rounding of the old bird programme from bonn ,  the young bird races will be as normal maidstone folkestone and lilliers
,please note these races will be liberated on saturdays except for bonn which will be a fri liberation this will give the working man in my opinion the chance to enjoy there weekend hobby ,the only alteration is believed to be that if the weather aint to cleaver on the planned day of liberation then this could result in a delay of 24hrs or so in basketing all the upto date news regarding this will be published via the web site at
www.welshnational.co.uk asap closer to the day

on the subject of 2011 racing we have had it confirmed that pontlainfrith will cease to opperate next year as a  marking station due to dennis davies marking station sec retiring from the sport ,at this piont we would like to thank everyone concerned at pontlainfrith for their support during the past two years and wish them a succesful 2011.
this in turn leaves us with a dilema has to how to opperate next year as this was by a long way the largest marking station we had ,option one is to invite applications from clubs to offer their headquarters as a marking station for the coming season or option two is to contact welsh north road clubs with intentions of offering each club the oppertunity of marking national entries within their own clubs ,resulting in non wnr fed members having the ease of travelling to a club nearby rather than to the designated current marking stations ,updates on this will of course be published once we have recieved the feed back from both proposals in the coming weeks

                                    tom harris

                                      Welsh national flying club

The above organisation recently held it first management meeting of the new season on Sunday 28th feb at the clubs hq the seamans mission in Newport

There was a few changes in personel has you are aware of since the agm ,with Charlie Williams and paul Edwards deciding to stand down in respect to holding race controlling positions within the welsh north road federation for this year, once again we thank them for their contributions in 2009 in being involved in getting everything up and running ,

this in turn left a position vacant and this was filled by jeff davies of the respective partnership of davies and haines from pontainfriath who we welcome on board,so looking around the room once again this year the committee is being substained by long time fanciers whom have the interest of pigeon racing in wales at heart and bring with them years of experience from sitting on various committees over the years.

                                    Moving on with agenda

no minutes were there has it was the first meeting has stated and all209 buisness was cleared up on the agenda at the agm so it was swiftly on to

correspondance first to hand was was the refusal of our application which was submitted in January for stand space at the forthcoming spring fayre at the end of march ,on the grounds that an extra organisation would not benefit the show and that the wse combine would be daft to to alienate the membership of the combine by accommodating the wnfc stand or a breakaway club has we have been described has, when in fact the organisation was only formed as a new venture in jan of 2009.so sadlly we will not be in attendace on this occation .

Next up was an email from mr john Humphries has secretary of the transporting organisation (the wnr fed) in respect of the race programme for 2010, which was agreed on by the membership of the wnr fed at a recent meeting consisting of the following overseas and young bird national race pionts

Folkestone sat may 8th £1.20 per bird

Lilliers sat may 15th £2.00 per bird

Reims sat may 27th £2.50 per bird

Metz sat june 10th £3.00 per bird

Heilbronn fri 9th july £4.00 per bird

                                    Young birds

Maidstone sat 21st august £ 1.20 per bird

Folkestone sat 28th august £1.20 per bird

Lilliers sat 11th sept £2.00 per bird

Yes has you can see there all mainly Saturday liberations this in turn will suit the working fancier no doubt, also attached was confirmation of approved sponsorships from outside bodies in that all birdage costs for the two longest old bird races have been sponsored to the value of £500,so what does that mean to the fancier?you may ask, well all that comes in regards to birdage up to £500 ,will now be paid out in prize money, except the mandatory 10% retained by the organisation giving an increased prize fund to the two races,,this also co-insides with the obligation of the committee too pay out as much as possible back to fly for in respect of prize monies in 2010

Whilst on the topic of sponsors I can confirm continued support from all of our 2009 sponsors including steve rogers and his new business partner phillip who have reopened their corn supplies in the grange town area of Cardiff and is now looking on the welsh fancy to support there store in future months

One or two item on the agenda was the proposal to hold a phone in auction this year which was discussed in the room after the agm this is now in the process of being organised has we are currently gathering some top youngsters from some highly successful lofts from both past and present all this will be published in the fancy press when finalised

And in view of marking stations no letters of resignation have been received so they potentially remain has 2009 All contact information regarding such will be published in your year books accordingly

So with that we wish you all a successful 2010 ,any enquires or quieries regarding any latest developments or issues ,I will be at the Aberdare show for a short while collecting my clubs accessories so please feel to ask or visit us at
                                    www.welshnational.co.uk .
