A KIDD (NEWPORT)
1st and 2nd welsh national maidstone young birds 2015 fri 21 st august and the welsh national flying club were on the road again with the welsh north road federation convoying to the kent town of maidstone an average distance 160 miles to lofts within the welsh boundary with a lot of unsettled weather forecasted there was a lot of uncertainty as many organisations around the country either decided to liberate closer to home or cancel there plans altogether ,however with our race advisory committee keeping a watchful eye of the developing storms arriving from the west they were confident that a liberation was possible and the birds would home prior to any rain saturday morning and with clear skies and increasing temperatures on site the convoy sat tight for a while whilst federations which were positioned along the southern coast in turn liberated the pigeons in there charge, and at 0900 with the majority of these moving north and out of the way and a watchful eye on the storms gathering way into the west slowly moving in ,the strings were cut releasing our entries into clear skies and a light south easterly wind at the home end we were aware that a fast race was on the cards due to the tail wind , for some it was a little faster than expected with a few getting caught as the birds made light work of the journey ,with the final outcome resulting the leading four positions at times coming into the third decimal to divide up the positions leading the field with two arrivals on the clock in a matter of seconds and the honour of 1st and second open is the newport lofts of andy kidd timing in at 11.43 .55. with a vel 1635.502 the winning pigeon is a young mealy hen one of andys fancied entries ,bred down through pigeons obtained from the lambrecht lines from peter and amber clarke of norwich , the second was a cheq white flight cock yet another lambrecht from the same source recording a vel of .11.43.59 v 1634.837... whilst andy wishes to thank everyone for the phone calls of congratulating him he wishes to pass this achievement to tommy lamsdale as it was him that assists in looking after the birds due to andys health ,and especially in the week leading up to basketing for this race as andy was away in scotland for the week . for 3rd and 4th positions we head up into the rhymney valley into pengam at the loft and partnership of brian williams and howard owen flying as williams and owen they timed in two of their arrivals for 2nd and 3rd open both their pigeons in the clock were bred down through pigeons from two highly successful pontypool lofts of scammell and peploe and mr mrs bromley ,both partnerships kindly enhanced this new partnerships racing team the first on the clock being a blue cock flying 164m 646 yds at 2.56.55 1634.830... closely followed by the second arrival a young blue hen on 2 hrs 56.59 v 1634.639 so the young birds are underway with the first of three young bird races and whist it was a nervous week for the race advisory committee as they made their preparations and contacted the many federations to the south prior to heading off on friday to maidstone ,but ,all their hard work certainly paid off in providing our members not only with a race but a successful one ,without any doubt we ain't saying we had 100 % returns as there was a small number adrift but these were minimal and a tribute to organisations people in charge of the thankless task of liberating the birds so we move on now next week to the penultimate race from battle which is located down around the historic town of hastings and a distance of 165 miles before we move onto the final race of the year from ramsgate with basketing on fri 11th sept which will but closer on another years racing from then we will look forward to the presentation evening which will once again be held at the seamans mission club in newport on sat 12th dec more details on this will unfold closer to the date but if previous years attendance is to go on then its never too early to make your ticket arrangements known as numbers are limited as always this weeks top ten PosOpenNameVelocityAFTDistanceRingPrizeOpenPoolsOpenPoolMoneyOpenTotal1AKidd,.1635.5022:43:55152,566W15N03328£150.00 £150.002AKidd,.1634.8372:43:59152,566GB15E44958£100.00 £100.003Williams&Owen,.1634.8302:56:56164,616NW15B3048£75.00 £75.004Williams&Owen,.1634.3692:56:59164,616NW15C7120£50.00 £50.005MMayo,.1632.2922:57:36164,1255NW15B5346£30.00 £30.006DThomas,.1625.9772:57:40164,242NW15S8025£25.00 £25.007DThomas,.1625.8252:57:41164,242NW15C7223£25.00 £25.008DThomas,.1625.6722:57:42164,242NW15S8024£20.00 £20.009DThomas,.1624.9102:57:47164,242NW15C7251£20.00 £20.0010THawkinsFamily,.1622.7262:47:39154,1010NW15B1302£10.00 £10.00
